Volunteer Participation
All volunteers anticipating access to our horses must accept responsibility for an individual horse or a specific segment of caring for the animals. We need the participation of survivors and the community to increase the quantity of horses prepared to help survivors. Volunteers can expect the following requirements:
1. Agreeing to release Adopt-A-Horse from liability from accident or injury.
2. Submission of a criminal records background check from the local law enforcement agency.
3. Consistent riding of the assigned horse is critical. We are concerned with the quality and consistency of the training given to each horse. We want the most prudent training course given to each horse. We want each volunteer to take responsibility for entering approximately four horses per year into the adoption program.
4. Each volunteer must provide his or her own personal tack and equipment. All riders must always wear a helmet while working our horses.
5. Each volunteer is responsible for his or her traveling expenses.
6. All volunteers agree to assist with survivor trainings and fundraising.
