The Judges List, http://www.judgesridelist.com/, is the most accurate list of clubs and events in the horse community in Georgia. The list gives the community at large a great avenue for exploring their horseback riding options in Georgia. A number of venues have long and complex trail systems. Riding with a club gives you the option of taking a guided tour of the venue conducted by local guides or by fellow club members. In addition, the clubs bring expertise, fellowship, and common social interests.
AERC,http://www.aerc.org/, is the official sanctioning organization for the endurance community nationwide. We specialize in training riders in field craft. We offer training for endurance riding events. Our horses are all Arabians. Arabians dominate the endurance sport. Since our horses and ponies are routinely being ridden, they are in good enough shape to compete in endurance events.
We are currently exploring the option of providing horses for those interested in riding at these events. The initial idea is to ask event participants to book a horse that would be brought to the event for the client. We would be responsible for the care of our horses and equipment. We would ask for a minimum number of participants to ensure that our financial issues are addressed prior to our departure. The rental donation would be coupled with a transportation surcharge specific to each different venue.
We are going to reach out to the horse community for their thoughts on this iniative. We are also asking for everyone to discuss their thoughts on the plan.
